Default Southwest get-to-gether

Hi all Western Crossfire owners,

I know I havent been very active on this forum, but I am trying to change this.

Since a long time I am trying to somehow organise a "cruise" or meet up for the AZ, CA,NV area.....But unfortunately I am not getting too many responds.

I was wondering if there more people interested on this forum

This is an just developed idea in the beginning stage, I just wanted to see if there is demand......

Please let me know what you think.

All the best,

D.

I'm a new member and think a GTG would be great. I did meet a couple of members at the Pravillons in Scottsdale a couple of months ago they told me about this site. I,ll be going to Laughlin on labor day weekend and when I read your post thought it would be a great place to meet up with members from Az, Ca,& Nv.
Anyone interested?
Chick

Its a start. It shouldent be too hard to find a spot thats a "Medium" distance drive for members from CA, NV and AZ

I bet we can also find a date that will suit most of the people who would like to attend.....

I'd love to do a GTG somewhere - time and money allowing, of course.

Germany, you got the ball rolling...... any ideas about when and where?

Honestly, I have no idea on the when where.

I was thinking about trying to organise a GTG in a time frame from August till December or so..It all depends on how many people say they would like to meet up and where they are all from.....

If we have a larger group from AZ and CA, we could meet maybe in San Diego or Palm Springs.

If we are mainly AZ people, we could just meet up somewhere (i.e Scottsdale or so) and go for a small drive.

I honestly have no idea, but I am open for everything.....

Suggestions?

Well, it is 1 for the money, 2 for the road...

Of course! Actually,we signed up yesterday to let our CC cycle a month first - but that was planned in advance. We've been busy of late and fortunately reasonably busy all along (knock on wood). But as you know, cash is king - especially in a down economy, so we work to try and manage it carefully.

Careful, Germany, you are getting perilously close to being drafted as the Supreme Coordinator.

The first and only rule for Crossfire meets is that the Supreme Coordinator (AKA Emperor) must dictate the when and the where and the what of the meet. Give this post a week for suggestions to be posted and then pick the most popular or accommodating one with a final "This is it!".

It would be nice for everyone to join up short of the final destination so as to arrive in one large group or meet at the destination and then head out to another one as a group. As an example we could meet at location X and then head out to location Y to eat. Regardless good route selection is necessary for that all important "entertainment effect" when driving to the final destination.

What is most likely is that owners from local areas will get together and meet up with other more distant groups while heading to the main event. Our Idylwild meet last year worked like this in that the San Diego bunch (if you can call two cars a bunch) meet with the LA group in San Juan Capistrano and then headed to Idylwild. Along the way we picked up SRT SIX and some road kill for lunch.

So a little research into where we will meet at and then where we will head to afterward is in order. Asking for suggestions from those owners in the target area is helpful. And don't forget to select an eatery for lunch/dinner. Chinese is always a good choice.

One thing we have not really done is to do an activity at our destination like hike around a state park or see a museum or tour a prison and watch Old Sparky in action. This meet sounds like it will involve more driving than other ones and it would be nice to stroll around a bit - especially for those of us with the ever so stiff riding SRT 6s.

Thought here, it may be nice to also look into motels/hotels in case some owners decide to spend the night before heading home.

I myself would nominate Palm Springs or something on the AZ border like Lake Havasu (never been there). Early or mid Aug is good for me. Yes I know it will be hot but the heat is going to run from Aug to Oct and frankly I don't want to wait till near the end of the year to get together. Considering how cool it's been lately having a meet now would work well weather wise but I think most of us need a couple of weeks notice to prepare.

Almost forgot that there is another Crossfire forum where the info of this upcoming meet should be posted. Might as well inform as many owners as possible. I'm not a member of that forum - I barely have time anymore to post on this one - but I'm sure other members here have dual citizenship and will spread the word on the other forum.

Well, if you've read this far then I guess that means that you have been drafted as Supreme Coordinator. Congratulations!

Germany I would be happy to work with you on orginizing this.I already checked with the Aquarius hotel and casino in Laughlin , NV. If we can get a minimum of 10 rooms booked we can get a Saturday night for $59.00 + tax total $66.08 and they will provide us with a designated parking area.

Thanks for the offer, I will definetly take you up on that since all good ideas are needed. And nicely done with the Aquarius hotel, seems to be a pretty good choice!!!

Laughlin sounds good, but its kinda a far drive for CA residents, especially for those from San Diego....

In the moment, I think the best options are Palm Springs (CA) and Lake Havasu (AZ). I am not excluding Laughlin, if the CA people say that they dont have a problem driving that far, its definetly an option....So hold that idea.

I think we are getting somewhere....Please keep input coming

Laughlin only 6 hours from San Diego. 8 hours from Sierra Vista. If I can do it they can do it!

Lake Havasu 5.5 hours from SD. 7 hours from SV. If I can do it they can do it!

Any of these destinations are fine for us. Takes about 6 hours to drive to either Las Vegas or Phoenix now. How about you Brent? And I think from time to time I've seen postings from others from San Diego too?

Nice, so there are enough oppurtunities. I personally tend to go for Lake Havasu. Never been there and would like to give it a look.....

I think it allows a good amount of variety between driving and nice "sight-seeing".....

Would Havasu be with everybodys choice?

I guess a Saturday would be the best day choice?? It allows enough time to get there and there is a possibility to stay overnight, for those who want........

Lake Havasu on a Sat works for me.

Vegas itself is nice but the drive from San Diego is not so nice due to the crappy highway. Also, traffic gets extremely heavy on the weekends.

Hmmmm, sounds interesting. Rallied with another Crossfire through Topanga Canyon yesterday. I have no idea who they were, but we were right behind them (until the passing lane lol) Yeh, I never know my G.F.'s schedule but I might make it. I like Palm Springs, but that's just me.

Good to see people posting up.

So I guess set location for the "big meet" is Lake Havasu in AZ.

Now the question just is when would it be good for everyone?

I would suggest a saturday in the middle of October, still warm enough and hopefully far enough away for everbody to plan ahead accordingly.

Does that work for evryone or would another time be better?
