Cheap astard-bay needs new tires
So, at 27k my Contis are a whisker above the wear bars in back. The fronts have a bit of meat left, but not much.
What's the smallest check I can write, and how long can I put it off? C'mon, I'm not the only Jack Benny* out there - one a you must know...

I think you should try Goodyear f1 eagles. I think thats what I want next time and if you buy some I can find out how they work on a Crossfire without spending any of my money.
I looked around and got a better price on the Discount tire website than at my local GY dealer.
I remember Jack and I speak fluent pig-latin too
I was in the tire shop last weekend and they had a Kelley "Fierce" the manager told me Goodyear just bought out Kelley. I didn't price them out or even check sizes, but from a pure "looks" point of view, they looked like something worth checking out and I think Kelley was a pretty "economical" tire.
1) Is there any downside to having a different brand in front than in back?
2) I found General Exclaim HP (front only) for $79. Any opinions out there?
...I'm finding rears at over $200 clams each. Any way to beat that down?

i don't pay anything for tires...is that cheap enough for you...it was included with my car purchase (tires and oil changes for life).
i had the conti-touring on originally and then they switched them to the contisport 2's.

If i was going to replace my tires right now, i would buy the Generals at the tire rack that you are referring to. You can get the General for the front in the stock size, plus they are available for the rear in size 245/35/19 for $127 each. The difference in diameter is only 1% according to the tire size calculator at: 1010tires.
