Lug-Bolts too long...
I was recently in an accident where a log fell off a semi in front of me and rolled under my car shattering two rims and flatening three tires. Since it was in the shop for repairs and the insurance was willing to work with me, I just purchased a new set of aftermarket rims and tires. Among several other problems the dealership continues to claim they have installing the rims, the new problem they just called me about was that the factory lug-bolts can not be used on the new rims as they are too long and protrude through the back hitting the E-brake spring. They said that they ordered new lug-bolts that were shorter and yet it still hits the E-brake spring. Has anyone experienced this problem with aftermarket rims? Is there a remedy?
Thanks!
Thanks!
3 choices:
1. Use spacers (depending on what the offset of the wheels is, this might be a good/bad idea)
2. Grind/cut the bolts down to the right length
3. Figure out the right length and buy some aftermarket bolts
