23K so far on my Pilots (original with car). I drive a mix of city and highway with nothing more aggressive than shutting off the TC and surprising my teenagers with a little tail spin in an empty parking lot: "dad, grow up!"

I just bought a SRT6 with 10K miles on it and the Michelin factories are down to 6/32 tread. How bad and how typical is this? I can understand burning some rubber, but now I'm wondering if the car has been thrashed at the track.....no other signs of track wear. Any ideas?

From reading the tire wear threads here there does not seem to be much consensus, even within the same tire brands and models and same cars. Of course the rears can be burned off pretty quickly but I was surprised that even the high-end Michelin, Continentals, and Bridgestones were not wearing that well on these cars. (I suppose the suspension setup and short wheelbase contribute greatly to the toll also.) Pirellis and exotics are out of the question for my budget as mine will be a daily driver.

You are getting about 30K per set...which brand/model/size(s) of tires have you run on your XF? Also, did you buy tires locally or online? In the past I have just stayed with the local tire guy, but with added cost and shorter life, I may be ordering my next set online if significantly cheaper. I'm moving to Florida soon so winter is a non-issue but rain is.

It's an SRT6, so 2005. I've heard of but never seen a 2006 though Canada has some supposedly. Haven't really had the chance to learn much about her yet; just did pick it up. Paid more than I wanted but hopefully less than she's worth.

What tire is the best for grip , but has a low road noise factor. I run the Nitto Invo's and they grip like crazy but the road noise from the tire are a little more that I like plus they are very firm. You can feel every crack and rock in the road.

2005 Roadster, the Wife's car, never driven hard except for once is a long while. Got 6000 miles out of a pair of chinese front tires from discount tire. Replaced them w Contis, found a cracked rim, waiting for part.........
The couple of miles I drove the contis they felt much better, these cars are rear steers w lots of caster built in w a damper used to control forces.
Odd way to go but it works.
