Tire help
Tire help
I'm looking at a set of wheels that are 19 x 8.5 and 20 x 10. The standard size tire for a +1 increase is 225/35/19 front and 275/30/20 rear.
Here's my question. Let's say I didn't really want to lower my car, but I want to close the fender gap a little. What do you think about the look of this combination:
225/40/19 and 275/35/20
Here is the math: 225mm converted to inches = 225/25.4 * (the percentage of width) .40 = a tire section height of 3.78" vs. the 3.24 section height of a 225/35 series tire.
Very similar for the rear:
3.1" for 30 series
3.54" for the 35 series
I know this would slightly lower acceleration, but not by much.
Thoughts?

Re: Tire help
Sir!
I bet a set of springs to lower your car would be cheaper then the new tires. Food for thought.
By the way I liked your little tongue lashing you gave to DW Duke!
Congrats on conversation from enlisted to commisioned! I know it wasn't easy.

As for the Xfire, the main thing is the wheels. I really like the look of a +1 configuration; I'm just not sure I want to lower the car with the new wheels because I may have some rubbing issues. I may not have to; however, the larger wheels may accentuate the gaps. All of the springs I've looked at drop the car a bit lower than I'd like. I don't really want to trim the springs, so I figured I could close the gap slightly with a larger side wall. Hmmm, the dilemma.
This is the car that inspired me. It's not lowered, and it looks really good. A slightly higher sidewall may be just right. I've lightened the pics so that the tire stands out more.
