Hey folks!
Took the SRT in for some warranty work, odds & ends, but one reason was for an annoying squeak coming from the right rear wheel. The dealership said that the rotor is pretty pitted with rust & needs to be replaced SO how about some advice?
Obviously, the stock rotors would work just fine but what else have you folks used? Any suggestions? Since I don't have an unlimited budget 'coolness' would rate low in any decisions though I've got to admit those slotted rotors do look cool!
Regardless of the rotors, Rotex Gold's will be used.

 

Kurt, Brakeworld has Premium OEM rotors listed for $58 for rear.

wierd this car hardly even uses the rear brakes, I seriously doubt you need new rear rotors if your under 60k miles.
try changing the brake pads, might get rid of the squeek.

Maxwell, yeah, that's what I figured (& I won't be taking it back to the dealership for work. Not that they're bad, they just charge too darn much) but, on the other hand, I'd hate to stick the new pads on only to have them beat-to-death within several months. And, like you mentioned, the rear brakes aren't the primaries! The service manager mentioned that the pits are deep & that grinding the rotor would probably trash it.
Decisions, decisions........
I think I'll go for a second opinion.

 

Hi, there's some good quality oem rotors on the market at good prices, so its probably not worth having yours machined> I'm in same situation, mine have only done 23k miles and the rears are far more worn, pitted and groved than i would have expected. They should still be as new. In fact the fronts still are, I am going to buy a complete axle set of rotors and pads.
p.s. is that the King Crimson Album cover?

I'm in the exact same position: the car has just turned over 20K yesterday & the front brakes are fine. Go figure! On a positive note, at least the rears aren't as expensive to replace as the fronts.
Ahhh, trust our British brothers to spot a classic: yes, that is the album cover from In the Court of the Crimson King by King Crimson, a band waaaay ahead of its time. But then again, you may already know that !

 

Ah ever since I saw that album cover Ive been meaning to dig my copy out of the attic, just copied it over to CD; just been playing 21st century shciziod man in the Xfire, wow what a combination of music and machine !!!!
