Default one side sits lower than the other?

Hey guys

recently lowered my car and I had thought all was well but I noticed a slight clicking noise coming from the rear. The one side had looked lower but I didn't put much thought into it until I got out the tape measure. The two front's are lowered to exactly the same height, however the backs are off by about 3/16th of an inch.

I found what the noise was -- the back shock in the lower end was sticking up more so than the other shock in the trunk. I had tightened it down and it ran out of tread, leaving it some room to move around.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem here could be?

Did I possibly get a faulty spring that sits lower? The other side seems perfect -- the shock tightens down and looks snug as a bug.

need some help

Sounds like you didn't put the shock back in correctly or the rear spring isn't seated right.

You can adjust the height by installing different spring pads...

good luck..

spring is seated correctly on all four corners. I actually had the chance to pull the car into the garage (it's a fight between me, a yukon, a sky, and two motorcycles so I rarely get to even see the inside of this garage), and the car does in fact sit correctly.

I can tell you now I believe the shock itself is just blown.. I am stopping at the chrysler parts direct warehouse tomorrow (20 mins from me) and I am just gonna pick up a new shock. Sadly the nut is now stripped on the top of the shock in the trunk so I can't even remove the damn thing the right way. Gonna have to just cut her out and put the new one in.

I can tell it's blown because my buddy just now mentions the 'pop' he heard while tightening it. He kept tightening until it made a loud pop and was then loose, allowing him to get a bunch more out of it. Sigh.

I'll keep you guys updated I guess..

the springs would create the height difference not a shock.

Car sits even. You'd be surprised .. what looks to be an even surface to the eye can be rather uneven!

Getting it on actual flat ground had proved me wrong -- but my shock is still toast. I am praying a new one will fit correctly and I will make sure I do the tightening myself.

If it fits like the other one then I have some sort of problem on my hands.

Also, did anyone else notice rear tire rub? I am assuming it's over dips because it certainly doesn't happen on flat ground.. rather large rub marks going on in my wheel wells. Hmm?
