Default 90 degree turns - clunky noise?

I noticed recently that when I try to make a sharp 90 degree turn in either direction, I hear a clunky noise. Sitting still, I tried turning the wheels and it makes clunky noises whenever the wheel nears the end of its turn range.

Is that normal? If not, what might it be?
