Mrs. 007_MI6 is getting me rotor for Valentine's Day, which leaves me to find the ones I want. Pretty much just for the visual factor, because my rims don't hide much, and they are starting to squeak anyway. I have searched and it hasn't helped me in my decision. I normally just spend the money because in the long run it pays off to buy quality. But my tight side also fights with the increased cost, so I ask for opinions or any experience with these.

I don't want a big brake kit or anything like that, this is my daily driver. I just want it too look better, and the Disc Italia's are at my max because I also want to get SS lines and pads on top of the rotor cost.

Choice #1, also most expensive and the ones I am looking at getting. Disc Italia=$630.

Well since the Mrs is buying, go for the Italia.

I voted for them based on looks alone.

 

Pads and rotors take a lot of abuse. Their life is a finite number

If you intend to race, and dynamite the brakes at high speeds, then spend the money, and get the best. If racing is the game, then also upgrade the lines and fluid.

If you are just going to do some occasional mild performance driving, Then just get good quality rotors, and a good compatible dust free pad, and save $$$$$$$$

Daily driver with spirited rides as per usual.

There isn't much price difference between the R1's & Disc Italias, The Xbrakes are almost half, so there I am worried about quality, if anyone has any knowledge on them that would be great.

I am going with Disc Italia Kevlar Titanium pads because I already have a new rear set at home.

I see I have votes for other...but no explanations.

 

I had my stock rotors machined - $125 per set - not too bad if your stockers are not worn out or warped. You pay for the shipping to them - they pay for the shipping back to you.

I decided on this route when the Disk Italia's were the only A/M rotor availible. IMHO the DI's are the best - but our stock rotors are still pretty stout. Plus one of the owners lives near by and took my rotors to work with him - saving me the shipping costs.

Now you can afford the ATE Superblue & Goodridge Brake Lines & Porterfield low dust Brake Pads

 

Interesting 'cause it's time for me to replace my growling rear rotors & I'm heavily leaning towards the Xbrakes because, at least as of today, money IS the issue.
My only problem, like some others who have asked, is that no one seems to know anything about this manufacturer. A quick search on Google brings up squat so I'm as leery as the next guy.
On the other hand, I don't track my cars so I'm not going to be beating the rotors. The majority of the braking occurs on those giant rotors up front. I live in the sticks & don't have to deal with too much traffic...........decisions, decisions.........

 

I vote for the Italia's.

I was on the fence at first.....then I went to your gallery and saw your wheels (NICE!), Something about those nice shiny Italias spoke to me.

I didn't have the best view of your wheel, but if any part of the center hub shows through then it's GOTTA be the Italias. The black center of the R1's is a dealbreaker if any of it shows through the wheel.

Just my opinion though!

 

For the inquiring minds.... I put the Xbrake rotors and Italia TK pads on my Intrepid.

Yeah, yeah.... I wanted to test them out and I had just put PowerBrake slotted rotor, Italia TK pads and Goodridge lines on the Aero.

I have been very impressed with them and they stop the car wonderfully. Right after I put them on I was doing a break in run and when I was coming home some jerk turned right in front of me. Hard panic stop. No contact. I was mildly ticked though..

I vote for the Disk Italia if she's buying.

Well, as far as posts go it looks like Disc Italia. The XBrakes are tempting though. MikeR, do you have any pictures of them? I can't find ANYTHING on them. Need to go ahead and order something, but my tight side is showing itself.

 

No pics of the Xbrake rotors... I have to go pull a wheel and take some pics...it's a little dark out now so I will do it tomorrow. That will give me a chance to see how they are doing anyway...

That would be awesome. I would really appreciate it, seeing as how there is nothing out there. I am getting antsy and my wife gets another commission check Friday, so I am running out of excuses.

 

Ok, tired of thinking about it. I just ordered a set of Disc Italia's Crossdrilled & Slotted rotors and TK pads. Will be a nice style upgrade I believe.

 

I gave up & ordered the OEM-similar Zimmerman's. With the missus being out of work money is still too tight.

I like the way the Xbrakes work on the Intrepid but they dont have any protective coating apparently. Here is the pic of the front brake rotor on the Intrepid after a few months of use. Note the rust on the non-wear surfaces. This is the same thing most/all factory rotors do. The PoweDisk slotted rotors that I put on the SRT6 do NOT rust like this. I dont know what kind of fishish they have but they have a light goldish tarnish to them in the non-wear areas. Looks kind of nice. They have been on just a little longer than the Xbrakes. I hope your Disk Italias have a protective finish too.
