You'll also need to adjust camber.
The previous owner of my car had lowered it and installed the camber kit, but not adjusted camber.
I just spent $257 fixing that and getting an alignment and new steering stabilizer.

the shocks will make a big difference as you can adjust the stiffness and be able to get a track tuned setup or a nice luxurious setup.
look at needswings and they sell shocks, springs, and brake upgrades.
how many miles if you have like 30,000-50,000 might as well do the shocks as well to avoid a bad shock in the future.
You can do it yourself for free by cutting the stock coils, but some members on here will have a stroke!
I did mine and have no problems with tire wear. I'm getting ready to get my rears replaced and I'll post pics to prove it. Just do a search for directions. Whatever you choose, good luck!

If you're going to lower it, do the shocks too. I lowered mine with Eibach springs and Koni adjustable shocks. It rides like a dream! The shocks are expensive, but well worth it! It was the best money I've spent on the car. I did all of the work myself which was fairly easy (I had access to a lift though). I didn't install camber kits because the car isn't my daily driver and the camber actually isn't that far off from the stock settings.
