Parking Brake Adjustment/Replacement
My parking brake is not nearly as tight as it should/could be and I do not know if the previous owner accidently tried starting to move the car with it on once or twice or what
. I know on certain cars there is an adjustment somewhere. Can anyone shed a little more light on this somewhere or where it might be located?? Also, if I am correct, the parking brake is simply a drum brake? And if so, is there a replacement shoe or pad part #??
Thanks guys.

yes there are two different area's that can be adjusted, one is the tensioner at the parking brake lever, and then your star wheel adjustment screw's in the rear, and yes these are replaceable parts
Thank you, I have searched around and found very little info on the subject for these cars. Maybe because of the age of the car and limited miles most people drive their XFs, not many have had to replace these parts....
Because it is a parking brake, not many folks have ever changed these shoes out and you are correct they are drum style brake shoe.

Go to section 5, page 57 which explains the required method of adjustment.
The manual can be found here; http://www.majormotorshotrods.com/_d...ice_Manual.pdf
It is also found as a sticky under the SRT6 section and is in the documentation thread.

Thanks for the pdf Ive been looking for something and im in the process of my brakes now and i needed to figure out how to release the tension of the brake so i can remove the rotor easier.
Thanks a lot. The proverb is proved again "A picture is worth a thousand words."
if you look closley at that foto the star cannot be adjusted with the rotor on like conventional cars. you make an adj. theinstall the rotor and spin then readjust. its a pain to do as you have to remove the caliper to do any adjustments

The adjustment of the hand brake is done through a hole for a wheel bolt which has been removed.
See pages 5-59 and 5-60 in the workshop manual available in the SRT-6 Documentation section.
