Default Best All-Seasons?

Yes. All seasons. The xfire will be my daily driver; summer, fall, winter, spring..

I was looking at Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus

Does anyone have these? I like the 45,000 mile warranty..

reccommend something better than this?

Thanks!

I get this warning when I go to the checkout at tirerack:

The following tire you have selected has a higher load rating than the vehicle's Original Equipment (O.E.) tires. This typically results in increased ride harshness, which some customers may find undesirable.

uh?

I put a pair on my rear Saturday and they ride much softer than the Nankang NS-II's I had on. Much quietier too.

You can ignore that message. But try the Goodyear F1 AS.

uh?

That is because the stock Continental SC2s' were terrible tires.... hahaha

I second FP, Goodyear F1 A/S would be my A/S tire of choice after doing months of research...and then I went with summer tires... Hankook Ventus V12 EVO K110s'

just comparing the survey results on tire rack, the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus tires were ranked a lot higher than the Goodyears.

I went with the F1 A/S tires.... Great summer grip wet or dry.

We also had one of the worst Michigan winter's in a long time last year.... the Crossfire plowed through snow deep enough that I made a perfect silhouette of the bottom of the car.

I can't really say that I've had any problems. They salt the hell outta the roads here as well, to the point that I've slid on salt, not ice.

I usually try to leave a lot of space between my car and anyone I'm following just on the chance that they'll shoot salt at me though. (around here you're more likely to be hit by flying concrete though)

FWIW, I installed new Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric tires on all four earlier this year. No regrets. I have been a fan of Goodyear for years and have always had good luck with them...

The Michelins get my vote. And I switched from using GoodYear F1 A/S.

how would you compare summer grip in the curves between the two? what about compared to summer only tires?

I have the Michelin PS2 AS on our 05 SRT. They were on the car when I picked it up in May. Car has 12,200 miles now and the tires look like new.

The car seems to handle and ride good. However, SRTs do ride a bit rough.

I drove another used SRT before buying this one. It had the Continenals and the ride seemed more jarring and noise.

Since the car has only been driven in the rain once. I can only say it seems to hold and corner great. The road noise is not bad.

I know from my previous experence with Goodyear Eagle high performance tires that they suck. Not sure about the ones identified in this post.

PS: As you may be aware you can look at tire rack and there are reviews on all tires with ratings and input from people that have purchased tires. I use these as guidelines. There are a ton of great tires out there that are cheaper and do very well.

Hope this helps

Since I had the F1s all of last summer and winter, and into the first summer with the Michelins, my opinion is... well, my opinion Note that I am only familiar with these All Season tires, not having had the luxury of keeping different tires for different seasons.

It's hard to fairly compare grip between F1s which have gone 28k, and Michelins which have 2k only. Having said that, I use less brake when making tight corners because the car feels sturdier and more glued to the ground. In the little rain we had had in the past few months, the grip has remained shockingly good up and down steep slopes and tight curves. It is said that All Season tires compromise much to fit all seasons. I have yet to notice any disadvantage or performance hit.

Just a small observation: the vote is for the All Season model of the GoodYear F1 I believe. Not the Assymetrical, which is a Summer tire. Hope this is clear to all... Hard to believe such contrasting opinions of the GoodYear F1 A/S tires...

I've stuck with these tires on both cars & they perform very well in just about any kind of weather you can throw at them. They do get noisy when worn but for the cost they're hard to beat.
Since I can go through rear tires on the SRT rather quickly cost becomes a big factor.

I had the Goodyear F1 A/S and they were good tires. Only lasted me a year before they needed to be replaced.. like 15k miles..after 10k they were EXTREMELY noisy and I will not be buying them anymore.

I'm going with the Michelin PS2 A/S plus

first, thanks all for all the great info and ideas on this site. It's been very helpful since I bought my 05 roadster new... I just bought out the lease.

Picked up the Michelins from Costco, which had a small sale on tires, and have been extremely pleased.

But, question: how do you deal with the warranty for these tires? They are directional, so they cannot be rotated side to side (and obviously not front to back unless wheels changed, etc.).

Has anybody dealt with Michelin or sellers on this question?

I can't speak for the Michelins but the Goodyear F1 All Seasons are great as long as they have tread which in my case wasn't for long. The F1 All Season lasted less than 16k and that is taking them below the treadwear bars. This is my wife's car and she is a very easy driver and drives mostly straight country roads slightly over the 55 mph posted limits. How they get a treadwear rating of 420 is beyond me
If you go with the Michelins I'd be interested to hear what kind of mileage they give you.
