Recommend a Brand of New Tires
I am running the stock Continental's on my 2006. Can you suggest another brand that would do better in the rain? These don't seem to let the rain get out from under the tire. They also seem to want to follow the tracks in the road pavement. Is there another brand that does better?
Thanks

depending where you are, i'm in MN, so will go with an A/S that meets my overall driving requirements. Not absolute best performance but exceeds my overall requirement in a good balance for me. After quite a bit of research and analysis re: performance versus price, my first choice will be the Michelin Pilot A/S, then the Goodyear Eagle F1 A/S. depends on pricing at the time I purchase. At that time I'll be redoing my research for what is then available, but as of today, those would be my choices.
I have had both the toyo proxes t1r's and now the vredstein sessanta's and both are excellent gripping tires. The V's are super quiet as well. I love em and will probably put another set on when these wear down.

Living in the an area where we get snow throughout the winter i decided to replace my continentals (21000 miles) with the Michelin Pilot A/S Plus. Got a great deal at a local retailer $1080 plus tax.

I have stock conti's on my '04, no problems with them for me. I have 15000 on them since I purchased the car, who knows how many total miles on the tires. Rears are to the wearbars and the fronts are great on tread but with some cracking on the sidewalls. 2 years ago I had no problem in 3-5 inches of snow when I was caught out in it. I have to save that they were great in the pouring rain on the interstate in Virginia\West Virginia @ 70mph. Too much money for the longevity for me though.
Had the stock Conti crap tires, went to the General UHP and survived a spring and fall dragon though the last one told me not another visit. I liked the UHP's, but they didn't last about a 1/3 longer than the stock, but I'm getting ready to replace the UHP and going with the Conti Extreme Contact DWS and we'll see how they go. According to TireRack, they are scoring as high or higher than the PS/2's.
Next time I may be going with 18's for the winter and then staggered for the summer with a good summer performing tire.
