Default Street & Track Brake Pads

So it is about time for new brake pads and rotors.

I am currently running a set of Porterfield R4S pads and am very happy with them but the cold squeal can be annoying. Funny thing is I spent all sorts of time while installing to try and avoid the squeal but still get it some. On my other car I threw on the same set of pads but did not do anything but pop them in and they never made a sound.

So I figure that life is too short to run the same pads all the time. What do people like for open track, drag strip, and street use. I want something that will not fade after repeated use on a short track but also is quiet and will work well when cold.

I am thinking about using stock rotors but open to suggestion.

Considering a set of Porterfield AP682.R4 full race pads.

Smoked my front brakes two weeks ago on DCR. Had to limp home.

The Rotex pads just didn't hold up to the hard driving...

I run EBC Red Stuff on my Brembo/C32 brakes, with no squeal on the street. Switch to Yellow stuff for the track days.

I am worried the full race pads will be too aggressive on the street and require too much heat for those cold stops encountered during day to day driving.

Thanks Tazz. I am glad you are happy with the EBC stuff. I and several guys I know have had horrible experiences with them in the past. While they may have gotten better my expereince was bad enough that I am avoiding their products.
