Default Gonna live with the dust!

Decided to go back to the OEM brake pads on the SRT. A coupla weeks ago I installed some Posi Quiet ceramics, didn't crack the bleeders, just swapped out the pads. Although they worked well, just seemed like I needed more pedal effort to stop, almost like I had air in the system. So I bled the brakes and no luv, still the same pedal feel. When I went back to OEM, everything is golden again and the pedal feels the way I think it should............firm. Anybody else run into this?

Very odd. I put PosiQuiet ceramics on my Crossfire at 2500 miles (did nothing to the rotors at the time, just installed the pads). A couple of weeks later during a track day on the road course at California Speedway I scared the he!! out of a Porsche 911 owner. We came off the banking at about 125~130mph with him on my tail, approaching the 35mph left/right complex that takes you onto the infield road course. He couldn't stop as fast as I could and I thought he was going to rear end me. I moved a bit left to give him some room and he went straight off at the corner. Lucky for him "straight off" there just means going onto the back straight of the main oval.

I talked to him later at the driver download meeting and he told me that when we exited the infield onto the front straight of the main oval (which was a designated "no passing zone" during this event) he figured he was, as he put it "just stuck behind the little Crossfire". So he didn't really pay attention to his speed, he just followed me. Turns out he'd never gone through the banking and onto the back straight any faster than 115mph before, so suddenly realizing he was going 10~15mph faster than he was used to really surprised him. That extra speed really stretches out your braking distance and, as it was, I was braking later than he was used to. To me that says a LOT about how well these cars stop. Even with my PosiQuiet ceramics.

In fact, I like them so much I just put a set on my daily driver a couple of weeks back. I'm loving them on that car too.

I had the original pads changed at my local Mercedes Dealer, due to the excessive dust. I did notice the change in the peddle travel on the new pads. I expected it from previous threads/comments on the change over. I had all four corners replaced.

I will continue to use the Posi Quiet pads, since the stopping power is the same as the originals, with no dust to speak of at this time. I have the originals at home, only had 9000 miles on those pads.

Just my 2 cents.....
Dennis
