I have 16" rear wheels that I use for drag racing. So, yes, 17" wheels will fit in the rear.

I don't know about the front. The brakes are bigger in the front, so I would not guarantee it.

Just curious, but where are you getting the 17s? Are they off of an old Mercedes? It's hard to find non-Mercedes wheels that fit these cars with proper offsets and all.

the slk32 has the same brake setup as the srt-6 with a 330 mm rotor and came stock with 17" wheels. so 17's will clear. offsets shouldnt be that hard to overcome.

You can use 16", or 17" rims and tyres which are homologated for the Mercedes R 170 SLK 320.
Please take a look at the .pdf file from Mercedes Benz.

http://www.mercedes-benz.de/content/...170_100120.pdf

7J x 16 ET 37, or 34 with 205/55 R16

or

7,5 J x 17 ET 36, or 37 with 225/45 R17

There are also other combinations, but they are not homologated for winter chains.
So take a look in the pdf.

Regards
Markus

So, I may have missed it in some other posit or here, but...are people running the same size front and rear tires for winter? The height difference won't throw the traction control/ abs into a fit with the speed deviation front to rear(compared to stock sizes)?

Thanks.

No problem. I run the owner's manual recommended 18's all around in the winter. Doing that lowers the rear slightly, improving front-to-rear weight distribution.
