Default 500 mile brake dust update...

Sometime ago I saw a number of guys go for the group buy. Sounded like a good deal but I wasn't ready to upgrade until I wore out more of my OEM. Then I decided I had enough of cleaning the front wheels just after one evening out around town. I had a plan to take the calipers off to paint, why not go back with something to make it better. So I ended up with these:

Brake Pad Set CERAMIC POSI QUIET SHIMS NEW Front E420 | eBay

Here is a pic after 500 miles of driving around town since I installed them. I have wiped the car down a few times, but never touched the wheels. So far, the product has paid off for me. There is some light colored dust on the wheels, but such an improvement.

edit: I just realized the title says 1000 miles, I don't know why I put that. It is 500 miles

Maybe so .... but 500 on each tire is 2x500 = ???

Anyway James, remember the GTG in Indianapolis we were at, and Valk had installed new brakes and rotors on his car? Well he offered me his old Rotex front pads that he said he had @20K on them. They looked in very good condition with a lot of pad left. I had them put on my Crossie, and after 750miles I only get light dust like yours also. Made a BIG BIG difference .....

Looking good James. I made the switch on both cars some time ago. Sure beats cleaning the wheels so often and worth an early pad change in my book.

Same pads I put on all four corners of my Crossfire with a mere 2500 miles on the clock. Now, with just over 15,000 miles they're still quiet as a mouse and so low on dust that I rarely even wipe them down. I can remember a track day weekend before installing these and even my rear wheels were black at the end of the weekend. At a subsequent track day with these on I managed to scare the daylights out of a Porsche 911 when I outbraked him from 125mph down to 35mph for a hard left hander.

So it appears I made a good purchase. Thanks for the product review. James

Hi !

Have you just replace the brake pads, or rotors and pads ?

I would like to replace the pads only. Can I install the CERAMIC POSI QUIET whiteout new rotors ?

Thank you in advance,
George

You can replace pads without replacing the rotors if they are now grooved or warped.
Might want to have them cut slightly to give the pads a new surface though IMO

Thank you for the info's.

I am still debating between Akebono pads, Centric Gold ceramic, and the Posi quiet ceramic.

When I read something positive about a brand, there is another posting negative comments ...!

What I want is, good brakes, Quiet brakes, and for last but important no black dust.

This is for my wife 2005 Crossfire Roadster Limited. No racing, just regular everyday driving.

Thank you again
George

Honest, do you ever brake?
I have no EBC redstuff and they are supposably low dust... After let say, competing with the lambo yesterday night, my alloys were somewhat dusty... If you ride 1000 miles, and no dust, do you really brake hard? go high speed? Also, are these pads good at braking?

If yes on all accounts above, I am changing tomorrow.
