Default New shoes for the Aero...

I got some MB copies through Rob last week for the Aero.... they are the AMG style 810. Front is 18x8.5 with the Kumho Ecsta 235/40's and rears are 19x9.5 with 285/35's... here are pics of the rears..(the lug bolts were too long and need to be trimmed)...

The rear wheels have a small problem (for me)..... when I pulled the OEM wheels off the new wheel/tire combo would not go on the hub... the tire interfered with the body at the bottom front of the wheel well... .... I just put a jack under the arm at the spring and jacked the hub up some so the wheel could be mounted, tightened it and then lower the jacks... they are fine in normal operation, just not with the suspension hanging free in the air.....
The plus side is the -32 offset and wheel size/style puts the wheels out at the fend edge with NO spacer...

The fronts also allowed me to remove the spacers and clear the C32 brakes easily.... I do have to grind that one bolt down to make sure I have no possibility of touching the inside of the tires...

More pics on the car when I get it back from the shop....(another story)

32 offset on the front and rear? Your brave on the rear fitment but you chose IMO one of the best looking rims made for a Mercedes. I don't know about the Kumho SPT's. I hope they don't roar like the XS's. I can't wait for the pictures, I'm betting it's going to look HOT!

Thanks guys... I hope to have the car back tomorrow(?) and get the wheels on and pics....

Les, I have had the rear wheels at -32 (with 10mm spacers) for quite some time and no issues... what is your concern? As for the Kumho Ecsta's I have had them on the car since I bought it and am pleased with performance... in winters they are a little hard but I have no issues driving in our constant rainy conditions... driving sensibly of course...

Mike, excellent taste, they will look amazing.

I ALMOST bought those and decided on a very similar set in 18/20 stagger...

I liked the way they accented the new AMG hardware....

Yes, I remember now. We've been over this before. Based on your setup I tried spacers on the rear of my car it rubbed on big bumps, thus my concern.

I run Kumho Ecsta XS for the track and they grip like no other tire I've used in the dry. Now that they're over half worn they howl like a hurricane. I know nothing about the SPT's. I gather they're much different from the XS's as far as road noise.

Anyway, forget all that, those are going to look incredible. You get the Velociabstract stamp of approval.

Good looking car man,

Thanks Nick.

Here are the pics of the new wheels on the Aero..... I was checking the bolt length and found that the wheels have ball seats and the bolts they sent were all cone seats... and too long for the back wheels.
So today I went to Discount Tires and bought 20 ball seat bolts that were the right length and started mounting the wheels....got to the last wheel and only had 3 bolts left... they only gave me 18...(he actually gave me 20, I counted, first but they were a little long but I can trim them. Then he came running to catch me with some 24mm long and mis-counted) Back to get 2 more and finish...

I like the look!!

Excuse the MB star caps on the front... that is what came with the wheels and I have to pull them back off to swap in the ///AMG caps to match the back.

Those wheels look awesome Mike. Could you possibly post some more pics where the car is not in the shade? Thanks

I love the wheels Mike but I hate to say this but ...... those wheels make it look like you need to lower the car. Am I hallucinating?

You ARE hallucinating! There isn't much room between the tires and fenders...... You will be able to see it better when I get it out in the sun for new pics....

Mike, I love your car, I mean, it's Aero Blue and perfect in my eyes. But the pictures in the shade with those rims left me a little high.
