Default Front end shimmy

Hey guys. I replaced my rotors last year and I never was quite happy with the feel of the steering afterwards. I took my xf back to the garage to have them check the rotors and wheels (thought maybe a weight got knocked off) but they didn't find anything. Now i'm getting a fairly wicked shimmy at about 70mph. Any body experience this, i know i need to take it in to have this sorted but I thought I'd post up to see if anyone else had anything like this happen after a rotor replacement.

Thanks

Any chance they didn't torque the wheels properly?

BTW, welcome back

Torque is very important but not my first thought.

My first thought is that the rotor(s) is not properly seated against the hub. It is very easy for a piece of rust, dirt, or corrosion to get between the hub and rotor when they are being installed. It is important to be sure all contact surfaces of the hub, rotor, and wheel are all clean and clear of any debris.

Only after you are sure everything is proper, then torque the wheel bolts in the proper sequence.

You could do a preliminary check by jacking the car and spinning the front wheels by hand while looking for trueness, either tire hop or wheel wabble. A wheel balancing may be in order
