I just got it back from new tires and alignment 2 hours ago, and we're heading to Birmingham in the AM for 3 days.

I'll have it on jackstands by Wed. AM. Sorry, best I can do.

ok somebody posted they made some using the 4-bar rod ends & 9inch aluminum tubes.Maxcichon posted pics and said he used 12 inch SS tubes.my concern is the original ones measure 11 3/4 inches center to center.seems like when you add the rod ends to Maxcichon's 12 inch bars they would be to long. Please somebody help me out on this. Thanks Bill Fields

That 12" was just the stock size that is purchased, it is then cut to length.

Guys, as usual, I'm running behind. I'll get the drawing posted by Wednesday/Thursday.

The 12" is only the roughcut length of stainless steel 15/16" HEX ROD STOCK. NOT TUBING.

Just back up, I'm the one who runs for reinforcements if you get into trouble.

ok thanks.but you could use the steel swedged tubes and not have to cut them or do any tapping or threading.that's what i'm getting at.on ROD END SUPPLY they have a chart for getting the right length on the tubes.they say for 5/8 rod ends you take centerline to centerline measurement and deduct 3 inches for the size of the tube.when i measured the arms they measured 11 3/4.that should call for an 8 3/4 in rod.so i guess a 9 in tube would be the one to use.then when you put the rod end on you would have plenty of adjustment.

This worked for me. Here is pic I had in the gallery a while back. Yes there is flat spots on the rod to get a wrench on. The -9 on the tube part number refers to length. 9"

I will have the other parts to do the complete set listed in the spring to give full range of adjustment. Forums are here to help, People/companies overcharging for needed parts is sickning.

I did put one washer in there, not to sure where it came from since it was in a bucket-O-bolts I aquired over the years but it was a washer that fit. Not to sure if it is even needed and may be fine with out, I didn't try.

The bar was on a list that I got from a mercedes forum which was not included on maxcichon list from Speedwaymotors. Just bought everything from one place, one shipping bill, one package, keeping things simple. Holding up good so far even with a few scary moments on road or off.

I'm not trying to save weight back there, I got some junk in the trunk weighing it down already.
If I want to lighten up the car I should start with the driver.

I used the exact same parts as Beaner from Speedway, but was worried about stripping the alum. rods and went with swedged steel tubes from Jegs....

Allstar Performance ALL57112 Allstar Swedged Steel Tie Rod Tubes

I didn't need any washers and lubed up the 4-bar ends with AquaShield underwater extreme grease to negate any squeeks.
A smattering of Never Seez on the threads also helps.

Hey maxcichon. What length did you cut your bars to.when i measured my original one they were 11/3/4 center to center.just trying to get everything right before i order the parts.what should the factory ones be.ithink my wifes were bent because she hit a big pothole dodging a semi about a month ago.using the 9in tubes with the rod ends seems they might be too long and not be able to adjust them .
