Default hard shifting, need advice.

sooo my car (05 coupe ltd) shifts hard (2-3,3-4) when i drive it "spirited" but if i drive it with the caution of hard shifting it drives fine (if that makes sense). so do you think its slack in drive train or the conductor plate sensor funking up. i have 120k on it. things i plan on doing very soon are the water pump, new belt, cats/02 sensors, flex discs, and conductor plate/13 prong connector. which do you think it more important? the cats rattle when hot kind of like a marble in a can? no loss of power/cel. i havent looked at the discs but i hear you cant see cracks unless you remove the drive shaft. i feel maybe i should just jump the gun and start replacing things.
