Default Purchased new wheels, huge offsets, suggestions welcome.

I found a deal I couldn't pass up, so I pulled the trigger on a set of wheels even though they have fairly large offsets. I'm not really sure I have an extra inch on the inside (especially in the front), so it looks like I'll be buying some spacers. These wheels appear to be within 3-5MM of stock at the outside.

New wheel / tire specs:

Fronts: 19 x 8.5 - ET50 245/35-19
Rears: 19 x 10 - ET 40 285/30-19

I'd appreciate any insight or suggestions in regards to spacers and clearing the front suspension bolt.

You need to end up with ET 30 on the front. 28 on the back. 25 is what I have on the rear (285/35/18), I rub the inside of the wheelwell a little on bumps and I have a little room to the outside.

As far as the suspension bolt, with a 255/35/18 ET30 and 2.4º negative camber I have enough room. I had to roll the front fenders a little. A 245 is a perfect fit with a 30 offset.

Thanks. I'm going to buy a few cheap 5mm spacers from a local autoparts store and see how it works out. I will just be using them to find the correct amount of offset. Then I'll order the hub centric 66.6 spacers.

So, 20mm on the front will move it out to a 30ET and clear the bolt. That's good to hear and is pretty much what Steve said.

As for the rear, you've got me a little confused. if you're rubbing on the inside, wouldn't you want less offset (lower number)? You're rubbing at 25, so wouldn't 28 move the wheel 3mm more toward the carrier? Maybe I should move that wheel out to a 20ET (add a 20mm spacer)?

This stuff is confusing me.

Use this tool and it makes it a bit less cunfusing? It's what I did to make mine fit.

Thanks. That makes me feel a lot better about things. I think Les just got things backwards, which threw me off. I believe Les meant he has 28 on the rear, but needs 25 to stop the slight rubbing.

You're right grip. Les helped me when I went through the wheel and tire thing too. Here is what I ended up with.

Front-
TSW Max 19"X8.5" et 43mm with 12mm hubcentric spacers for an effective 31mm offset, wrapped in 245/35ZR19
Rear-
TSW Max 20"X10.5" et 40mm offset with 15mm hubcentric spacers for an effective 25mm offset, wrapped in 285/30ZR20.

This was before my first beer, so yeah, I screyed the pooch. 22 or 23 is what i should have said. I figured this out by trial and error. I have a closet full of spacers and lugs, have put different sizes on the stock rims and aftermarket rims, etc. To tell the truth, I throw myself off from time to time. But I have a 25 offset 18x10 rim on the car now with a 285/35/18 tire and it rubs on the inner fender well back there. So a few mm would be perfect. I'll be under the car this weekend and can take pics of the tell tale marks if you want me to.

Thanks for the info. Looks like I'll need to order 15's for the front and 20's for the rear. Hopefully wheels will be mounted up in a week or two.

I think you need 20's for the front and 12's for the rear. 15's should work on the rear too unless your lowered. But I'm sober.

I'm way lost now. I need a drink, but I don't drink. Oh wait, I have a Sharps NA beer beside me.

Do you have a Holiday Inn Express nearby? With the stock wheel there's only 6 to 8mm on the inside to the suspension bolt. How do I know. I put a 235 on the stock rim and had only a credit card clearance. (235 = 5mm more to the inside and 5mm more to the outside from stock) So I put a 5mm spacer on for safety reasons. Then, silly me, I put a 10mm spacer on with the 235. (15mm more to the outside from stock) Fits great! So, with a 32 offset we have a touch over 5 mm on the inside and a touch over 15 mm to the outside. I now have a 255 on the front with a 30 offset. Being lowered it hit the fender lip on bumps. At stock height, couldn't say. I rolled the fender. But wait, I have lots of negative camber. A 255 with stock camber would rub the lip even more. I can assure you that your front rims and tires will fit perfectly with a 30 offset. (50 - 20 = 30) The rear is another matter. Again, I have lots of negative camber. With less rear camber I might not rub. With a 275 I didn't rub that I recall. You have a 40 ET. I keep screying up the rear calculations so I'm giving up. You can't go farther inside than a 25 offset. 40 - 15 = 25. A few mm less would be ideal. So is it a 12 or 18, heck, I can't get it right so you tell me.

20mm spacers in the front, and I'd buy 20mm spacers for the rear. In the odd chance the rear ones poke the wheels out too far, you can have 2mm shaved off for an overall spacer of 18mm (subtracted from 40, that's a 22mm offset which is the OE fitment).

Swap that Sharp's for some Glenlivet 18

I can make you a deal on a new never installed pair from H&R. Hubcentric, and they are the HRA style so the spacer actually bolts to the axle and the wheels( with OEM length wheels bolts) thread into spacer. I put the same type on but needed 15mm instead and just re-ordered instead of having them turned 5mm.

Seller has proven to be a flake. After 3 days of lies and excuses, he refunded my payment and relisted the wheels. I think it's all for the best anyway, as damaging one of those beauty's would have broken my heart and wallet.

You know, that's why I got custom wheels. Add up the lugs, spacers etc and the bargain isn't. He did you a favor. Buy something that fits right. Your a wheeler dealer of the third kind.

Truth be told, I think I'd be happiest with a set of widened stockers.
