Default Cheapest places for XF tires?

Living in NYC I have realized that I need to move out of here to save my tires from potholes!
Anyone have suggestions where to get tires for the XF cheap? Internet based or otherwise. I know the XF comes with Michelin's stock. Would you guys suggest keeping Michelin's or other brands?

I do like to drive fast and don't intend on ever driving it in the snow, but these potholes are killing my tires. So far two potholes in the highway have blown one tire and created a bubbled other tire.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I also have some tires available - Stock Michelins with only 3000miles on them. I went to a Michelin A/S tire for the snow that we get here. We also have potholes and no problems either way with tires so far.

Tiresavings.com has good prices. Between Tirerack and these folks, you should find the best deal.

You should look at the GY F1s. They rate very well and the price is right at the Tirerack. $228 r and $172 f.

Might just try the Goodyear store near you as you still need to get the tires mounted and balanced. They should be able to beat Tire Rack's price, too. They did a great job with mine, and the F-1 is a super tire.

I think they look neat but I like having Pilots, even porsche likes them for OEM.

And the Corvette uses the F-1 Supercar run flat. Guess it is all in the handling dynamics and the price.

I'll sell all four of my conti all-seasons with 1,700 miles on them for $600. They are on the car in Akron, Ohio in the garage for winter.

I paid $1,200.54 for four pilot sport 2s at a tire shop here in Chicago. That includes installation, alignment and road hazard insurance. I couldn't find another shop that could compare. It's a good thing too, with around 6,000 miles on the new set, I hit a pothole and bubbled both tires on the driver's side. Cost of replacement tires, installed... $116.00. Hopefully I can avoid the potholes for the rest of the winter.

The F1's appear to have direction-of-rotation arrows on them. How do you deal with periodically rotating the F1's since right-to-left rotation could mean the tires are rotating backwards?

Since Oct 22 '04... i HAVE logged 9,500 miles of pure NYC potholed roads... mainly... the bronx, manhattan, queens and brooklyn... rarely get into staten island...

What parts of NYC are you driving through???

By the way... here in the city... THIS IS MY WINTER MODE... usually i run 4-6 psi higher in the front so there is an initial bounce when the tire hits the pothole, and 2-4 psi higher in the rear (softer than the fronts) so i don't get alot of spinouts...

I PUT ON AN AVERAGE OF 100 MILES A DAY HERE IN THE CITY, SO I KNOW WHAT YOU TALKING ABOUT... ITS A MINE FIELD OUT HERE... WAS IT THE BQE THAT ATE UP YOUR TIRES???

Andrew,
They weren't that cheap when I posted that. Anyway I bought an extra set of rims and am going to put goodyear GS-D3 on them and keep the conti's as spares. Just didn't go back and delete post. I think the rears were about $225 at the time and the fronts about $200.

You don't rotate on the crossfire with directional tires. Normally with directional tires you could rotate front to back to keep tires going in right direction, however with 18 and 19 you can't do that on the xfire.

When I first got my Crossfire I asked my buddy about tires for it and here's what he told me. For a set of BFG KDW2's, it would be about $1,100 and for some Japanese tires, it was about $900. Needless to say, if I actually have to replace them before I turn in my lease, I'll be getting the Japanese tires, I just can't remember the brand, maybe Hancook. Right now I've got about 8,500 miles on them and they still look pretty good, but I wish the tread depth on the rear was the same as the front from the get go, that has never made sense to me.
