The OEM shocks were not Bilsteins as pointed out in a previous response to this thread, but supplied by Sach's to the Karmann factory at the time of the manufacturing of the Crossfires, regardless of the model.
Just my 2 cents....

There are multiple threads suggesting various shocks, a little research will give you all the facts required to make an informed decision. Posts 15,16, 18 and 20 in this thread alone are noteworthy. -CFK

What did you end up doing? I'm deciding what to do right now, most likely between the B4, B6 or KYB's.
I'd love to get some feed back from people like you that made a decision to see how they liked the results.

I've got 19" wheels. Not sure if that makes any difference. I just bought the car. 2005 with 73K on the original shocks.

I put KYBs on both of my roadsters and thought at the time they were kind of harsh. They have some miles on them now, probably 5k+ and I thought about them while driving a few days ago and I am now quite satisfied with them.

Thanks.

Did you put on the KYB's with the separate XF part number, and not the SLK part number? They are both supposed to fit. There was speculation in an old thread that maybe they valved them differently for different car weights, but the SLK and the XF are actually pretty close in weight. My understanding is that they did have different stock wheel sizes. Never heard exactly what was supposed to be different between the SLK and XF KYB's.

The Bilstein B6's also have separate numbers for parts that will fit both. I'm trying to figure out if they are really different, and if so, how.

Default Re: Lower Shock bushings??

Hello Fellow Crossfire Owners, I have an interesting dilemma. My shocks were replaced a few months ago but now it seems that the lower bushing is crumbling because of age. According to Chrysler, the part was discontinued in 2015. In the diagram below, I am referring to item # 4. I need two of them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can try Rockauto. You'll have to find the correct measurements for yours.
