Default UK Tyre Spec

Quick question, I can find the Xfire hoops at mytyres.co.uk for about £200 less than DCUK but are these the right ones, there is no mention of rim protection in the handbook and just rang the dealer who couldn't answer either!

Michelin Pilot SPORT PS2 225/40 ZR18 92Y EL Rim-protection (So) £ 137.40 2 £ 274.80
Michelin Pilot SPORT PS2 255/35 ZR19 96Y EL Rim-protection (So) £ 214.90 2 £ 429.80

Subtotal 4 £ 704.60

As long as they are Z rated you should be fine.
If you are after something similar that's already on your car check the temperature and wear rating.

Just out of interest how many miles did you get out the tires.

33k and they all need to be done at once! not bad going but most of it is motorway work.

Think i've got the right model just checking rim protection as it's not mentioned anywhere on the OEM tyres or the manual.

I had a puncture in a rear tyre within 3 days of getting the car - no pressure monitor so didn't spot it immediately. The result was it needed a new tyre - I have the Continental Sport Contacts - £235 fitted - ouch!
My only concern is the only tyre I could get at such short notice had the stiffer side wall - I have a Roadster which comes as standard with the softer walls - so I now have "odd" tyres on the backend - doesn't seem to make much difference, but then I'd only driven it for 3 days prior to the change, so it might actually be handling like a dog now and I'd never know!

mpc - You paid 253 Pounds Sterling for one tire? Or was that for both rear tires?

Hi Woodlands

One tyre! I needed a tyre within 3 hours and that was the price I had to pay (I had to get our transport company to fetch it as well) - my major concern is still whether mixing the harder wall tyre with the standard softer wall tyres will make a critical difference to the handling at some really important time!
