Lug Bolts
The threads are 12mm X 1.5. The bolt head has a radius which is apparently unique to Mercedes. I converted to wheel studs from the bolts. Tire Rack has the studs in two lengths.
If you are using spacers, you will need the longer length. I use 5 mm spacers on the rear for some tire/wheel combinations so I used the longer studs on the rear. In order to use the stock center caps, I shortened the longer studs.
If you want to stick with the wheel bolts, I am sure that Tire Rack can help you there too. Contact: Luke@tirerack.com or call him at 877-522-8473 Ext. 362. Luke seems to be quite knowledgeable about our cars and posts frequently on some of the Mercedes boards.
By the way, I autocross the Crossfire and change tires frequently. Wheel studs make the process much quicker. It is much easier to line up the holes to a stud than to try to balance the heavy tire wheel combination while you try to find the hole for the bolt. It saves a lot of time and effort when you change tires several times a day.

Perfect! I will need to visit the mercedes shop and just buy some new lug bolts for my winter SLK rims before I can fit them to the xf. I have not changed a tire yet on the xf. I have heard horror stories regarding the lug bolts. I am sure they have a reason for doing that over there...
Thanks again!
Thanks again!
I am in the process of putting on these rims to a 2004 Crossfire:
http://www.rim1.com/Items/17%20DAMAN...SILVER%20WHEEL?
They are 40 mm offset? 5 x 112 17 x 7 inch rims.
Do I need to buy new bolts? Any reason I can't use the existing bolts on the present 18 and 19 inch rims?
They want 30 dollars for the bolts which is fine if I need them or if they will work. The gentlemen whose selling these rims is a real nice guy but I just want to double check...Are they the same bolts that a mercedes would use? (which is what I think he wants to sell me for 30 dollars) is that the right price?
btw..its only 239 for the four wheels...89 dollars shipped.
I'd imagine thats about what a set of used SLK rims would cost?
If I'm off on the price of the rims...let me know. I'm not married to these rims for the looks but rather they have been the only ones I can find....
Any leads?
I would feel better about buying slightly curbed mercedes rims..(but I haven't found any slk rims on the net..) Can you use any mercedes rim? ie... S class? E class?
but my main question is do I need mercedes bolts?
Is 30 dollars the right cost?

I spoke to them on the phone. Without the tires its $239 + $89 for shipping ...
That's for all four wheels...
Its not $239 per rim but rather for all four.

I am finding a lot of rims I could use with the 5 X 112 17 x 7 or 17 x 8 inch rims for even less.
My only concern is the offset is 35 mms vs. 37 mms...
Can I do 35 mm's on 17 x 7's or 17 x 8's? and still have it fit the Crossfire...(according to the sites ...the 35 mms work on the mercedes..(never a mention of crossfire which is why I truly appreciate any insight)

Here's another advertisement that I would appreciate any suggestions...
5 x 112 35mm
Here's the ad...
