Default Can I use 35 mm offset on a 17 x 7 inch rim? (for snow tires)

Mercedes SLK Rims are 37 mm offset.

These rims I just bid on say they are good for Mercedes benz slk's but the offset is 35 mm, not 37 mm?

I'm in big trouble here guys and could use some insight...

Will 35 mm's instead of 37 mm offset work ok on the crossfire? If they work on an slk?

Thanks in advance...(doing all this for a 77 year old family friend who owns the crossfire and now wants snow tires and rims...) I'm working way too hard but just want to help.

I don't have any other place to turn for advice here guys so please accept my apologies for all these questions...

JB

JBsZ06, I don't think the slightly larger offset should make a difference since the rim is only 7" wide, and you will be using a narrower snow tire. The current rear wheel on your car is 9" wide, so that would put the inside of your tire alot closer to the inner fender than a 7" wide rim would. I hope this answers your question...Mike

Thanks Mike.

So it sounds like 35 mm offsets should work with the crossfire?

No problem with brake caliber clearances etc?

Like I said..I've read that this snow tire mod works with slk rims from this great site....but winters coming and no slk rims available. Then I spotted this aftermarket rim on ebay that says it fits SLK's...

So I bid...then I realize the offset is 35 not 37...

I sure hope it fits.

Thanks

As far as I know, the brakes on the XF are supposed to be exactly the same units that are on the SLKs, so if the wheels that you're bidding on came off an SLK, I would think everything should be OK.

I second that. They are made by Ate and have the MB 3-pointed star cast into them so unless DC did something funky with the geometry (which I doubt) those wheels should fit fine. If they do bump into something you could always add spacers to compensate for the narrower wheel.
