Default service A & B ... did you complete it ??

i personally did not have my service A completed (scheduled maintenance).

i have my oil changed every 7,500 miles through the dealer... but i have a k&n filter... i changed my cabin filter myself... and reset my own notice wrenches.
i now have 30k miles on crossfire.

imo ... its a glorified oil change ... most of the scheduled service consist of just inspections... aka - an overcharged glance over.

your thoughts??

You are 100% right. The Crossfire has the easiest maintenance requirements I have seen
in a long time. I have done exactly as you have with my car, cleaning my K&N's, changing
the cabin filter myself etc. I did however have the dealer do the oil changes, but I gave them
my own oil which I bought for $4.95 a quart at Wally's.

Ditto, except I let them supply the oil so that they would have a profit and maybe not find a "surprise" way to make me come in again sooner.

i do it all myself, and reading the horror stories on this forum about the dealerships is reason enough to keep on doing it myself.

I look at is as a good reminder just to look over my car myself.
I sure ain't going to pay anyone to do it...

My car came to me with a service contract, and other than getting my car back from the dealership FILTHY I haven't had any problems with my dealer, except having to wait for the crossfire tech to get back when my car had to be towed in unexpectedly.

Service A&B are just inspections. Aside from the oil changes, this car is essentially maintenance-free. The oil changes are ridiculously easy too.

the b service includes lubrication of the door and hood hinges as well as the spoiler linkages which are all easy DIY items.

Andrew you're absolutely correct. Doing it yourself makes the most sense, not only is it ridiculously easy but you run the risk of having the garage screw it up.

My first oil change was free when I bought my car but the dealer didn't know the difference between 1 wrench and 2 wrenches so they did service B just to make sure all bases were covered. Also I had to reset the FSS because they couldn't figure it out. I'll be doing the maintenance myself in the future.

I let the dealer do my first A when it was in for the fan motor. I only have about 3,900 miles on the car so it'll be due again this winter. Depending on my frame of mind at the time I might tackle the second oil change myself. It also depends on how warm the garage is. I ended up resetting the wrench myself. the dealer forgot to do it and it would have meant a 45 minute trip. Very easy to do.

Rackin up those miles now are we... pat!?
I let the dealer do "A"... because they broke some interior trim pieces and they had to make it up to me before I contacted Chrysler, will now be doing everything myself... unless it gets so cold I can see my nipples through my jacket.

Yes the oil changes are easy and I like to keep "in touch" with my car. I love the idea of standing over the oil filter instead of staring up at it. I haven't had it back to the dealer since I bought it, other than driving it there to purchase the filter.

I've had all the services done but I don't have the time or talent to do it myself. Oil is changed every 5,000 miles. Expensive but my Xfire runs like a damn top and has never given me a problem.

I also want to add that I try to form a relationship with my service manager. I talk to him about cars and stuff and try to build a bond. He knows I'm **** about my car and so far so good. They even double park my xfire and take two parking spaces because they know I will complain if they park another car next to it.
