Default Windshield Wiper Squeak

Hey guys, I ran a search and didn't find anything. In the rain today my wipers started making a really annoying high pitched squeak. It's probably 17 - 18 kHz, so some of you older guys probably wouldn't hear it at all When I got home I lifted the blades off the windshield and the squeak was still there. It is coming from the housing where the wiper arms pivot but couldn't tell if it was louder on the passenger or driver side. I'm bringing my car in to the shop anyway on Monday for some other issues. Do you guys have any suggestions on what it could be? Sounds like something needs a little WD-40.

Thanks
Spencer

And, just a few short years ago, I made fun of those guys that you see at a restaurant that hold the menu out as far as their arms would reach. I have had 20/20 all my life, but now I am one of those guys I used to make fun of. I do still have a good sense of humor about it though. LOL

Actually, my dad, uncle, grandfather and great grandfather all went deaf pretty early in life. My dad was the first to have it properly diagnosed as otosclerosis. Luckily it's repairable. Unluckily, it's obviously genetic. No signs yet *crosses fingers*.

Well, squeak stuck around for a few weeks and was gone. It's rained plenty since. I guess I won't worry aobut it. We'll see if it starts back up in late fall.

I knew it would resolve itself as your ears got older.

Next thing you know you'll forget what you use to hear that was bothering you. Once my wipers started sounding like my wife I found it rather easy to ignore.
