Searching for Crossfire Owners with VIN 26xx Series
Since I am waiting for my Crossfire to arrive in Korea I have read many threads on this forum. Some good, some bad. For the most part, it seems that Crossfire owners are a zealot lot; they love their cars and the driving experience. However, there are problems with the car. I am particularly concerned because I have already purchased a lemon from Chrysler: Dodge Intrepid 94. Absolute piece of junk and after fighting with Chrysler for several months they finally agreed and purchase the automobile back from me. I was lucky, but I do not wish to go through another experience like that again.
While I am waiting I hope that I can develop a possible scenario from people who have purchased a Crossfire within the 26xx VIN series. Yes it is a lower number but not particularly that low. Bumps, rattles anything that I can look for before the Crossfire need major work. Although DC Korea will service my Crossfire - this is Korea and this culture has its own set of rules and order.

Mine's 2896 and I bought it last Oct. You will probably have the radio with the lousy display. There's a TSB to replace it. And a TSB for the rear hatch rattle... A simple adjustment. Also a TSB for wind noise.... Requires a window adjustment. The early 6 speeds had a problem popping out of 1st gear and there's a fix for that. No problems at all with the Auto-stick.
Hi, although mine is currently in the garage they are only minor problems. My number is 16805. I've had the speaker behind the drivers seat replaced as it was vibrating, the illuminated door sills have a problem, but this is a Mopar part, not Chrysler. And I'm waiting on a new door handle on the outside drivers side as the delaer damaged it before I collected it. Apart from those the only thing I've had done at the dealers is the wind noise TSB where they do a simple adjustment on the windows. Nothing mechanical has gone wrong. It drives like a dream and I'm very pleased with it.
What you also have to remember is that people don't normally post when their car is working fine. There are over 28,000 of these cars on the road and only some 1,000 or more on this forum. If things are all ok people go quiet so the people on here discussing issues are the minority I would say.
Saldous - good point! At least know I can call the Technician at DC Korea and talk realities. Perhaps the necessary parts can to ordered, although that could take a while from Korea. I think I can live with Wind Noise and Radio display is not a major issue, but the radiator hose is something that I need to look carefully at as soon as I take delivery. Perhaps the bubbles on the inner tyre walls too - though I need to read more about that issue.
