Well, this may be goodbye... :(
Well, this may be goodbye... :(
I was alone heading to work this morning, and an early 2000's Taurus turned in front of/into me at an intersection. I was doing about 35-40mph. Have some scratches and burns on my right forearm from the air bag, but otherwise fine. No one seemed hurt in the other car...
Not sure what I'm going to do now. Had just put new front brakes on, was going to call about tires at lunch. Got some other parts sitting in the garage. Was trying to decide whether or not to powder coat the valve covers red while fixing the leak.
My first wreck, and hopefully my last.
Re: Well, this may be goodbye... :(
Any accident you can walk away from, is a good one. That being said it's always so heart breaking whenever anybody posts up the mangled remains of their favorite car.
When ever you see air bags, that means it's pretty much toast in the eyes of the insurance company.
So sorry to see your pride and joy looking like that.
Every single time I take my car out, I think to myself, Is this the day? Sometimes it just seems they're out to hunt our cars into extinction.
Good Luck with the Insurance companies. Hope you find another one to replace it.

Thanks guys. I'm very glad to be out with just minor injuries. Started to panic just a bit when both bags blew, and I couldn't get my door open. Was very hard to breath. I quickly crawled out the passenger's side, coughing and gasping, and it was about 10 minutes before I realized the temp was 16F, and my coat, gloves and hat were still in the car.
Really hurt to see my baby sitting there like that, especially after they towed her, and traffic just continued on running over the little pieces... I'm very ****/proud of my vehicles. Vacuum it once a week, never leave trash, fret about scratches... Oh, well. I'll move one...
Interestingly, MrMopar was my first thought when the tow truck pulled up. Figured I would let him know about her... Hate to see good parts go to waste. I'm really glad I waited this long to put tires on though.
I work about 40 miles from home. The wreck was less than five miles from work. Fortunately a coworker pulled up shortly after it happened, and took me to work, and will be taking me home. A friend is going to let me borrow an Explorer till I can make other arrangements.

The only injuries that I'm aware of. You can see the ring where, I assume, the Chrysler emblem got me.
That's where the emblem ended up, in the passenger's door.
Here's the car that got me.
Had these Pop Tarts sitting in a bag in the passenger's seat. They are completely shattered.

The only good thing about something like this is you walked away.........I hope as picky as you are you decide the new car will be another crossfire ......we need all the family we can get ...or keep,... that appreciate our special cars. Not nearly enough of us as it is......tell me you are thinking of buying another 1! You gotta admin she protected you in this accident and another crossfire would be the way to go!

I'm considering looking for another. Would love to have an SRT roadster, but I drive too many miles. Would hate to rack em up on a car like that. Hated to do it on my Limited, but loved driving it. Just have to wait and see what the insurance does.
