Default Service Interval - Getting Longer

I have now driven 9300 miles in my XF. The computer is telling me I have 2700 miles left before I require a Service.

This means my Service Interval will be approx 12,000 miles. It was showing a Service interval of 10,000 miles when new.

Does this mean I have a problem with the computer, or am I treating the car nicely?

Bob, you haven't told us whether you have serviced the car up to that point (oil, filter).

If you haven't, I would forget about the computer read-out and start preparing for the service call. I did my service at 10,000 km (about 7k miles) and will do that every 10km
from now on.

If you have already done your service, possibly the computer did not get reset at that time.

Mine was also showing 10k sevice but with time has steadied to a 12k interval, which is pretty normal for this engine.
For some reason I believe the US x-fires were on a shorter sevice interval than UK to begin with.
I am sure I read that US were on 7k intervals where UK was 12k.

The more you drive your car, the less carbon build-up in the engine. The computer can read driving habits and monitor the necessity for maintenence. Thus, the need for service will depend on if you drive to and from work (5 miles) a day, or if you beat your car and drive everywhere (40+).
I drive at least 40 miles a day and have 11000 miles and no service has been needed so far. But, I expect t do so soon. A friend who rarely drives his car had his first service done at 7000 miles.
Hope this helps with any questions. This is just from my experience with the car and my friend who is a tech and crossfire trained at a 5 star Chrysler dealer.
