Default SC clutch blow up!

Anyone familiar with this type of clutch failure? Just going to Lowes (only about 1 mile from the house) and heard a strange sound from the front then I heard the familiar sound of a slipping belt. This was the suprise I discovered when I opened the hood.

Forgot to mention the mileage on the car is 28k. I'm glad I purchased the aftermarket warranty about 6 months ago.

Wonder if this could have been the problem?
It's the friction disc portion of the SC pulley clutch.
If it came apart it would frag like a clutch going out.

Any mods or bone stock?

It looked like there are some flat pieces of metal, probably used as a spring to keep the face of the clutch away from the friction material when the magnet is not engaged. One of these broken flat pieces of metal was hanging out and did all of the damage.

No mods - and I was only doing about 50 at the time - it was raining at the time.

Does anyone in this forum have a SRT6 engine cover they are not using and willing to sell? The insurance policy won't cover the part so I thought I would check here first.

Thanks

If you're unable to locate one, the front shroud for a SLK32/C32 will snap onto the front of the filter boxes.

And, it will probably cost half as much.

I cannot see why this would not be covered, if a con rod broke and poked a hole in the crankcase it would be covered, so why not this?
