Default Intake

Quick question before I attempt this. Does the Intake come apart or is it all one piece? It looks like the gray cover may be a seperate piece I can get painted or powdercoated but I cant tell.

Not real sure what your asking here.. the silver cover pulls off.. the tubes come off next to the the cover and at the radiator end.. then you have the filter boxes on the bottom side that have 4 screws each holding them onto the silver cover. they are also where the intake tubes attach.. so basically you will have nothing but the silver cover in your hands when done.

I guess I should have thought before I typed. Im talking about the Intake manifold...sorry. After you take the engine cover off the N/A the gray center manifold. I would prefer not to have to bust loose and remove the whole intake manifold and gaskets just to paint it. When I had my valve covers off it looked like it was an extra cover bolted on but I may be wrong.

Haven't been there myself.. but I know another member painted his without taking it off.. Later on down the road a dealership put a leak problem off on him removing the manifold to paint.. LOL.

That doesnt surprise me I work at one. Our service dept sucks. I can install side steps on a truck in 20 min, it takes them 3 hrs.

+1 on that. A sheet of Visqueen does wonders to avoid overspray.
