Default Rotating tires

Do I need to rotate my tires from side to side?

Unless you are driving a Nascar oval to and from work everyday on non-directional tires... no.

I agree with Opticon.
If your tires are wearing evenly across the width of the tire, and both tires (front or rear) are wearing evenly then there's nothing to worry about.
If you have directional tires then if you want to rotate them you'll have to remount them, but if your tire has an inside/outside designation then you can't do anything.
So, like Opticon said - no.

When all else fails, read the tech order (owners manual)! The Xfires have staggered wheels and tires, ie, different sizes in front and rear. Most UHP tires are directional in rotation, but NOT all. Check the side wall for an arrow or direction of rotation indicator. If you have arrows, in order to do a tire rotation from side to side on the vehicle, you must dismount and turn the tire around so the arrow is pointing forward on the other side.
This will require rebalancing the tire and wheel, and if you have TPMS that may be another bushel of turnips.
AS Spensley and Opticon said, NO! If they ain't broke, don't fix them.

When I had the non-directional Conti-Touring tires, I did rotate them side to side. I am a firm believer of tire rotation regardless of how good the tires are wearing.

Now that I have the directional F1 All Seasons, that is no longer an option unless I want to pay for the mount/rebalance. Time will tell if I do or not. There are very few tires I liked, and within the budget, that were non-directional to fit this car. I will live with it but I don't have to like it

I personally have never come across a "directional" tire that has designated inside/outside. That means you have to buy 'four' different tires for your Crossfire. New one on me. The designated inside/outside tires I have dealt with were not "directional". James

James,
The new MT DR's I just got are directional and have arrows that show which direction they should turn. That just makes them right side or left side, depending on mounting. Being too big for the front means the tires stay on the rear end.

That's okay. I'll just burn 'em off at the track!

Mike, I understand that. But your directional tires don't designate inside/outside is my point. Therefore, if you wanted, you could remount them to rotate them side to side.

Not true. That is only for mounting purposes. If it is mounted correctly, 'outside' will be 'outside'....no matter which side of the car the wheel/tire is on.

But I do agree about not rotating the tires unless you have some unusual wear issues that a rotation would help.
