I checked, and there is a slight play in the mechanism. But today I drove the car and that strange noise from the wipers was no longer there.
The whole problem is that you can’t buy a new mechanism, and if I have to spend money on a used one taken out of another car, I have no guarantee that it won’t have a similar fault. That’s why for now I’ll just keep observing how the wipers are working.
