Strange noises when the windshield wipers are moving
This morning, it was raining in my city. I got in my car, turned on the windshield wipers, and heard strange noises that occur when the windshield wipers are moving. I recorded a short video with my smartphone, but I'm not sure if it's audible – here it is.
I drove to a car repair shop and was told that the wiper control mechanism was worn out and that I should look for a used one in good condition online.
What do you think?
Has anyone else had a similar problem?

I think you should take it apart and examine it yourself. Here is a good post to open that section up and remove your alarm (or replace it) at the same time. I suspect, it's fine and sounds like a loose bolt allowing it to rattle.

It's hard to tell from the video, but it sounds like the linkage for the wiper arms is loose or slacking.
Try this: With the car off and the wipers in the normal resting position, gently move one of the wiper arms with your hand. Check to see how much "play" or movement is in the arms. Does one arm move before the other one starts moving? If both arms move at the same time, then the motor may have play in it, or the part that connects to the motor may be worn out. If you have a lot of movement then that is the problem that is creating the noise.
Also listen for that noise when you do it.
I don't know if there is a way to adjust the arms or not. If not, then you will have to replace the linkage. Looking at the pictures from my post, the linkage seems to be easy to replace.
Good luck!

Re: Strange noises when the windshield wipers are moving
@M60A3Driver Thanks for the advice
I checked, and there is a slight play in the mechanism. But today I drove the car and that strange noise from the wipers was no longer there.
The whole problem is that you can’t buy a new mechanism, and if I have to spend money on a used one taken out of another car, I have no guarantee that it won’t have a similar fault. That’s why for now I’ll just keep observing how the wipers are working.

Did the noise stop after you had replaced the old wiper blades?

The wiper control mechanism is likely worn, and replacing it is the correct solution. A used part can work if in good condition, but a new or remanufactured part is more reliable.
