I'v been driving 31 years. I can count up 620,000 miles in my head, just by adding up the final mileages on the last three pickups and last three company vans. In that time, I have had ONE tire instantly deflate. I was going down a rural road and a front tire picked up a sharg piece of metal and flung it at the rear tire. It cut a slit 3 inches long and INSTANTLY defalted the tire.
The other times I changed a tire was to put the spare on so I could drop the bad tire off for repair and keep running around - it was NOT cause I had a "Flat". Of course, in the last 6 or 7 years, I'v been plugging my tires at home myself. Saves time and money.
