First things first, reaplce the battery. Do not care what anyone else says, with the age of that battery and the sensitive electrical systems in our cars, just do it.
That's what I was gonna say, and is why I asked. MY GAWD, a 6 year old battery???
Now, the reason I asked about miles was, I am trying to see when the CPS goes bad. Seems like everyone who complains abotu one has 30 to 60K on their cars. I have 20K on mine, so I guess I'll maybe buy one, but keep it in the trunk for emergency use (by me or someone else at a GTG).
As for me, I replaced my original battery in my 2005 (built in 2004) last fall before heading off to the Dragon.
REPLACE your battery - mine was $90 at O'Reilly's. I once got stranded in a Dodge Durago that was acting like your XF, all it was, was a bad battery.
