The easiest way to get a good sounding system is to replace the head unit and correct the factory power amp wiring. You can get a fairly good head unit for less than $200.00. The factory head unit to power amp wiring has only FRONT speaker wires going to the power amp. There is a splice (located under the passenger floor cover) that connects the head unit front speaker wires to both the front speaker and sub woofer inputs on the power amp. Remove the splice on the front speaker wires and install RCA plugs on the FRONT speaker wires and the SUB WOOFER wires, going to the power amp. Plug these into the FRONT speaker and SUB WOOFER preamp (RCA jacks) on your new head unit. You can adjust the sub woofer and front speakers independently. It'll sound great.
