Seems odd they would be "acceptable" with stock unit (I'm guessing they were) and now and with the new HU they aren't. 4-5 volts output on the HU rca outputs?

Tossing the amplified bass cannon in back made mine acceptable in frequencies.. just "really" want to upgrade the HU for Ipod and memory stick usage. But finding one that looks good in the dash (matches) is the priority without spending 300 bucks.. LOL

I put a walmart $109 sony in my Miata about 2 months before I got the crossfire and loved that thing..240 watts - usb - ipod control with zappin - etc. Still running the stock HU and do have an FM transmitter for the ipod, so kinda tells you how high on my list changing it is.. LOL. I may just end up hard wiiring in the FM transmitter (lighter plug for power) and call it good before I find a price, features, and look that makes me want to change out.

Bass blockers remo0ved and the mids came back. Ordered some 200uF caps to install to see if they give me the music separationthat I am looking for.
