EDIT DAMN, just thought of this... I had a Ford Ranger that acted a LOT like his car... it had a bad MAF and a bad (Oh, what was it? O2 or PCV sensor or SOMETHING. Turns out, one sensor had failed months before, when the MAF also failed, the PCM just didn't have enough information to run the engine.)
