Suspension travle is lost, so is body roll, and with a considerably stiffer spring, you don't need or want more travel. I am also unaware how it affects the aero of the car, but I am not an aero engineer and have had mine around 150 with no problems or stability issues...

To each their own, but I am glad you used the phrase 'eludes me' because if you spent a day or two at the track, road course, not drag, and you would understand why we have done what we have done
I am all for road courses, it's the 1/8 and 1/4 thing I don't comprehend, no need for great handling and a good way to blow a tranny or rear end. Usually dragsters have taller rear tires, that changes the cars attitude ie, aerodynamics. Less travel and stiffer suspension rseults in a bone jarring ride, something my 66 YO body doesn't tolerate like in the past, especially on Pa. roads. As far as me spending a day at the track, I have raced both cars and motorcycles at a fairly high level, many, many, many years ago. LOL. I actually sat in Phil Hills' Ferrari Formula One car at the Nurburgring in Germany.
