I've just looked at a very nice car its a 2004 gray crossfire i must admit its hard to fault it the owner as had it 7 years and he works at a merc garage so its been looked after,
Its a automatic but this is the only thing that's bothering me a tiny bit the mileage is 78000,
Have any of you got an opinion on what sort of mileage do these engines do before there getting troublesome?

Time spent learning from the many experienced owners on this forum (much more knowledgeable than me) will tell you what to expect but, generally, big miles are not a problem with proper servicing. Merc mechanicals are ususally excellent and
having had ready access to Merc. servicing, this other one sounds promising.
If you are considering a XF as a long-term prospect, lower miles obviously give a better 'feel-good' factor 'cos it should be longer before you need more serious work done - but a well cared for high miler is often still better than an abused low miler, so history is always key.
High miles also give you a bit more bargaining power, so if it looks good, that need not put you off nor, as UKKen says, should private sellers, especially with HPI and VOSA checks available - plus your forum buddies...
Good luck, don't rush and keep asking questions - the one thing XF owners like doing next to driving (and tinkering & modding & fixing) is
talking about XFs!
