I'm betting it is a turn ignal light which is the same as the bake lights in the rear. As soon as you toucht the brake pedal or use the turn singnal the lamp out comes on. since you likely step on the brake pedal to start, the light is always on when you drive.
Turn on your headlight and your emergency flashers. Then walk around the car and check. Easy for one person to do.

I have non canbus led's in the turn signals and no light out indication from them..
Now having non canbus led's in the back up lights.. you get a light out whether initialized or not.. go figure.
Oh... and brake lights are a totally different circuit than the turn signal..
