Even if your XF is a 2008 (manuf. in 2007) your battery will be over 6 yrs/72 months old. My Varta did the same thing; would give off codes, them work fine for a week or so. Then the wing would deploy at startup. Best to go ahead and replace her before she goes south.
Good advice ... cars have been towed due to not running right or not starting and all that was wrong was an old, OLD battery.
