Default Re: Check engine lights

0453 - I had that one, it was caused by an abnormally high voltage (indicating fuel tank pressure all the time) which was caused by ME. I washed the car with the top down and let water get on the connector on the top of the gas tank. The ground pin corroded, and this forced a high on the sensor line.

I unplugged the connector and cleaned the pins with alcohol. Problem fixed.

171 sounds like a bad or just filthy MAF sensor. One lady in the past two weeks that showed up here actually cleaned it herself and got the car going - but HER car was running rough due to it. Can't say it set a code, I don't remember.

Get the RCM resoldered first and see what you get after that. Bad RCM solder can cause:

A no crank
A crank but no start
A fuel pump that doesn't run all the time, causing low/no fuel pressure
Other problems

If you trace the wiring, the RCM switches power to numerous feeds thru out the car. Get the whole thing resoldered and see what code(s) go away!
