You said emery and emery does not come in such fine grits as you used. The paper you used was covered in fine particles of abrasive with very little difference in size.

If you say something that is not true technically you can be assured you will get called out, as we do not want someone else screwing up their contacts based on something they read here.

So it was not emery that you used. I worked in the Tool making/design industry for a trade. So I'll use in return.

Yet once again superior knowledge and education triumph over my meager attempts to be helpful.
Dave, I had used a piece of a 3m microfine 2000 round pad that maxcichon gave me for headlight polishing, I mistakenly called it 'emery' rather than 'sand paper'.
I did not know there was a third type, now I know.

3M makes some excellent microfine abrasive papers, I have some and one is so fine you could get confused which side of the paper to use.
I only commented because someone may see emery cloth and use it, and they will ruin the part they are trying to improve.
I also saw this posted.
doubtful the car has electrical problems i bet it is the solenoid.
So we can take it that a solenoid is not part of the electrical system. This is a quote from an electrical engineer so it must be true. You learn something everyday here.

I completely understand, and in no way mind your correction.

so back to the real problem.

I still have the 410 secondary air pump code. the rcm has been resoldered and the solenoid is clean.

Any other ideas guys?

thanks ahead of time.

Well, you are down to only 1 code, that is progress, right?

Anyway, does the pump run? It usually runs at cold startup to provide extra oxygen to the cats so they heat up faster.
It's pretty loud and obvious. Do you hear it at start up? If not, it either isn't getting power or the motor in the pump is bad.
If it IS running, then I'd guess a sensor is lying to the system about the pump not running.

It's under the cold air breather that holds the filters. I THINK its up toward the front.
But if you are going to work on this car, you need the service manual. I have it on both of my laptops!

Go to the documentation collection and get it! It's in one of the tech forums here, there is a stick called "Crossfire Documentation Collection" and its all in the first post.

I use the SRT one cause it's for a Roadster - differences are minimal between that and a limited.
The air pump is part of the emissions tab.
