Question? what is your take on the Cam sensor - my son is going nuts, he has replaced one and the random shut-downs came back. he didn't get the problem till he changed out a radio on a basic Xfire and the mechanic is pointing him at the control module or computer

Sometimes you just need a grain of salt with him though.. (Canadian.. )

Changing the radio should have nothing to do with the shutdowns.. Is he getting a check engine light?

Crank Positiong Sensor (CPS) or Relay Control Module (RCM) are the normal causes for random shut downs. Cam sensor is kind of the "odd man out" on problems, but does happen on occasion.
One strong word of advice.. Make sure your replacing with a Bosch brand!
