I got one of these from the original group buy, and I've probably got about 30,000 miles on it now. So far, no such problem. However, as I'm in the process of changing the valve cover (and breather cover) gaskets, I'm going to take a look at that today. Thanks for the head's up.
You may need a microscope? I'm sure others have thrashed their new karmann pulleys just as hard as the ones that failed(like Rudy for example), and no issue so far. Hopefully someone can nail down the root cause.
